Introduction

Founded in April 2020,  Hearth Fellowship was started to reach out to college students and young adults within the Exuberance congregation of the Central Campus of the Chinese Bible Church of San Diego (CBCSD). Although there were originally less than 10 members, we slowly grew to incorporate more and more members, eventually reaching a respectable size. On Nov 7, 2021, a decision among the  Hearth Fellowship core, Exuberance leadership, and CBCSD leadership to form a Next Gen congregation as a new church ministry. Our Sunday worship service is designed and catered for English-speaking young adults and college students.   Since then we have weekly Sunday worship and Hearth fellowship, and also frequently have events such as outings, outreach events, prayer meetings, worship nights, and more!  We have also officially registered ourselves as a student organization at UCSD.  On June 2023, we launched Axios Fellowship to reach out to graduate students, young professionals (those in the working field in their 20s.  Please plan your visit to join us.

By God’s grace, Chinese Bible Church of San Diego (CBCSD) has been growing steadily since it started in 1987. We are still inadequate in many ways, so we humbly rely upon God’s mercy as we seek breakthroughs in our maturity, love, faith, and knowledge. Our goal is not to establish a big religious organization, but rather, our vision is to allow God to mold us into a healthy body of Christ. May all whom God brings to our church experience His love, and see His sovereignty upheld, His gospel proclaimed, His holiness revealed, and His name being glorified through us.

CBCSD is a non-denominational Christian church. In addition to the Main Campus in Carmel Mountain/Rancho Bernardo area, we have 4 campuses in San Diego and Riverside Counties: West, Central, North, and Temecula. The West Campus became independent in 2010 and is now called Living Water Bible Church. We also have a Downtown Worship Center serving seniors in the San Diego city center.

CBCSD STATEMENT OF FAITH
    1. The Authority of the Bible:  We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, without error in the original manuscripts. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the divine, final authority for all matters of Christian faith and life (Matthew 5:18; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:18-19).
    2. The Triunity of God:  We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, who is infinitely perfect and eternally exists in three person:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God—equal in honor, glory, and power—and worthy of the same worship (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14).
    3. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ:  We believe in Jesus Christ, both true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and rose bodily from the dead. He ascended to heaven and now, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, serves as our High Priest and Advocate (Isaiah 53:5-6; John 1:1-2; Philippians 2:6-7; Hebrews 4:15).
    4. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit:  We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates those who believe, and dwells within every believer. He guides, instructs, and empowers them for godly living and faithful service (John 3:3-8; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6; Ephesians 1:14).
    5. The Creation and Fall of Man:  We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God but have fallen into sin and are in need of salvation. People enter the world spiritually separated from God, unable through their own efforts to restore this relationship or earn divine acceptance (Genesis 3:1-24; Isaiah 59:2; Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-3).
    6. The Way of Salvation:  We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s grace alone. The shed blood and resurrection of Jesus Christ are the sole basis for our justification and salvation. All who receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and become children of God (John 1:12; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5).
    7. The Nature and Organization of the Church:  We believe that the church is the Body of Christ, with Christ as its head. The church is manifested in local congregations of born-again believers who are called together by God’s grace, united by His love, and organized under the teaching of Scripture. These local churches exist for worship, fellowship, and the evangelization of those who have not yet received salvation (Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:12-13; Ephesians 2:19-21, 4:11-12).
    8. The Second Coming of Christ:  We believe that Jesus Christ will return to establish His eternal kingdom. At His coming, all people will be resurrected and judged—believers will receive eternal life, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God (Matthew 24:30-42; Acts 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:35-58; Revelation 20:11-15).
